Max Lucado's "Pocket Prayers" and Surprise Gifts for Friends

Prayer: Where would I be without it?

To be honest-I don't want to think about it.

Within the past year, I have learned how important a good prayer life truly is. Of course, me being me, I had to learn the hard way-but nonetheless, it is a lesson learned.

With that lesson, I have also witnessed that the simplest of prayers can have the greatest impact in our lives. Example: Peter only had to cry out for help, for the Lord to reach down and save him from everything dark and deep. That's something we need not forget when we are in a drowning disposition.

It is with that in mind, that I bring you these beautiful "Pocket Prayers" from the wonderful, Max Lucado. This man has a way with words. There have been many times a Lucado quote has nailed my exact emotion at the time. His Christ-like compassion oozes throughout his work which is why I am so excited to do this post.

Bestselling author Max Lucado has teamed up with six authors to write the Pocket Prayers series for those in need of peace, renewal, rest, faith, hope, joy, direction, serenity, and courage.

Short, simple prayers are very effective, which is why each book in the series contains forty guided prayers and complementary scriptures for any situation, including for:

-Moms (written with daughter Andrea Lucado)
-Grads (written with daughter Andrea Lucado)
-Dads (written with Mark Mynheir)
-Military Life (written with Mark Mynheir)
-Teachers (written with blogger Jennifer Hale)
-Friends (written with Betsy St. Amant)

I am sending 5 of these little nuggets of peace to 5 sweet friends...and they don't even know about-until now! (This will explain the IG photos since I had to jack theirs without them knowing!)

Here are the 5 people I am surprising with these books:

Pocket Prayers for Military Life

First off is one of my sweetest friends, Julie. Want to know her in a nutshell? She's Joy from Inside Out. All.the.way. She is ALWAYS ready to dig into prayer, uplift, and encourage anyone who may need it. Her mature faith and her unconditional love never once failed me-even in my darkest times. So for her and her family, I am send the "Pocket Prayers for Military Life". As a mama of 4 AND as a military wife-she's got one tough job! I'm praying that this little book will be a sweet blessing to her as her family dedicates their lives to our freedom.

Pocket Prayers for Graduates

Let me tell ya about this gorgeous pug mama right here. She is one of the kindest people on the planet! She too has stood by me through prayer and a big heart through this tough season. As a child from a big family, she's always been one to uplift when I feel like I'm failing in the mama department. But aside from what a blessing she is to me, she is one smart cookie. Not only is she a professor, but she's in the middle of getting her PhD! This is why I want to send the "Pocket Prayers for Graduates" to my sweet Maria! She hasn't graduated YET, but she inspires me so much from all she's accomplished!

Pocket Prayers for Teachers

You know, there are some family that go beyond the realm of relation and dive deep into a lifelong friendship. This is Laury Rose. In college, we were attached at the hip. I slept on the floor in the waiting room while her daughter (pictured) was being born. She was the person who taught me to stand up strong after my first real heartbreak. She's an amazing pillar of strength and has the most tremendous love for Jesus. I am amazed at what she faces, yet chooses to be in the arms of the Lord rather than be bitter and angry. She's also the hippest middle school teacher around! As a wife and mama of 3 beautiful girls, it was a no brainer that I would give the "Pocket Prayers for Teachers" to her!

Pocket Prayers for Friends

Oh Rachael! My cray cray cat lady friend!! Seriously through, this mama is such a treasure! From offering my family of 6 her guest room when we were homeless, to looking for jobs for my hubby, to sending pick-me-ups via snail mail-she ALWAYS knew what to do/say when everything seemed to be going wrong. She inspires me DAILY to be healthy and to be a good mom. (She also makes me incredibly jealous with her bang game and all around stylishness) Watching her raise her first baby, Fox, has been so much fun! I actuallywent from being one of her bosses at Starbucks 10 years ago to her being a true asset in my life. Rachael is just great all around and I'm honored to send her the "Pocket Prayers for Friends".

Pocket Prayers for Dads

Last but not least, my brother-in-law, Steven! We are so blessed to have him in our family! With that past two years, he's done so much-from joining the Army to becoming a first time daddy! Hubby and I know how scary those first years are when you don't have a clue what to do and you just have this tiny human that relies on your 24/7-so we want to send all the encouragement we can, especially since we are so far away :(

I love this family to pieces, and I am so excited to see them grow and experience new adventures! I love you guys!

So those are my picks for the Pocket Prayers! I am keeping the "Pocket Prayers for Moms" for myself, since I just love it so much!
